Waterproofing: Common Problems and Suitable Solutions
Leakage rarely starts with a big failure. It begins with small cracks, failed joints or poor drainage and slowly grows into damp walls, peeling paint and corroded reinforcement.
Terraces and roofs: exposed to sun, rain and temperature change. Flexible coatings or membranes with proper slope and drainage usually work best.
Bathrooms: leaks often come from around pipes and floor joints. Cementitious or polymer modified waterproofing before tiling is common.
Basements: face water pressure from the ground. Crystalline systems, membranes and injection grouting may be used depending on the situation.
Always identify the source of water before choosing the system. A proper site assessment saves time and repeat cost.
